Is the Eagle Festival Tour in September a good fit for you?
You will visit Ulgii, a town in the center of Bayan Ulgii province, 1600 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar, as part of the September Golden Eagle Festival Tour. You will fly to Khovd town at the start of the tour and return to Ulaanbaatar from Ulgii town at the end of the journey to save time and minimize driving. Ulgii has rudimentary lodging and dining options because of its isolated location and infrastructure. With the exception of the 240 km paved road drive from Khovd to Ulgii town on the first day, the Eagle Festival Tour does not involve lengthy driving. The Golden Eagle Festival is held 30 kilometers from Ulgii town. In comparison to the October Eagle Festival, the September Eagle Festival is smaller. The September Eagle Festival features 40–50 eagle hunters, while the October Eagle Festival features 60–70 eagle hunters. The benefit of the September Eagle Festival is that spectators may observe and take pictures of the activities up close.
